WHY WE CHOSE THIS CAUSE
Washington D.C. is home to nearly 300,000 families, all full of potential. While every family faces challenging times, our belief is that these setbacks should be temporary. Lending a helping hand during a critical time can make big, long-lasting impacts and help our D.C. neighbors thrive.
• 11.3% of D.C. families live below the Federal Poverty Line
• In 2019, 68,619 children in Washington, D.C. — 54% of all children — lived in a household with income below the ALICE Threshold of Financial Survival. ALICE households don’t earn enough to afford the essentials needed to live and work in the modern economy
HOW WILL WE HELP?
We are working on an action plan alongside experts and partners that will include volunteer opportunities, community events, education, programming, philanthropy and more. We are also rolling out an Impact Fee that will be distributed to local organizations on the front lines of addressing this issue.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT FEE?
Starting 10/1/22, guests will see an additional 1% fee on their reservations called the Impact Fee. This fee is being collected to fund donations to organizations that align with the hotel’s Community Impact mission and goals.
HOW WILL THIS FEE BE USED ?
All of the money collected through the Impact Fee will be donated directly to local non-profit organizations. The hotel does not keep any of the money or use it towards our operations.
